Conservative Swap

Windows added a new feature called 'PageFile_Call_Async_Manager'. It allows the Memory Manager to Asynchronously write out page file buffers during periods of time when VFAT file activity is not busy. You can disable this feature causing the system to behave as Windows 95 does. Click on the Start button on the Windows Taskbar and select Run. Type in 'System.ini' and click OK. Look for this string:


Under this string, add the following line:


This will force the Windows Memory Manager to use the available chip memory for its functions which is much faster than using the read-write hard drive file.
