Keep The Status Bar Visible

The status bar in Internet Explorer is a great tool to keep you out of trouble. It provides a quick way to check the real URL of a link (unless they're spoofing, then there's other ways), by passing your cursor over the link. Unfortunately, sometimes keeping the status bar turned on in Windows XP can be a challenge. To make sure the status bar is on all the time, close all instances of Internet Explorer, and open Windows Explorer. Under the 'View' menu item, click on 'Status Bar'. The status bar will come on in Explorer. Now go to the 'Tools' menu, and select 'Folder Options'. Select the 'View' tab, and click on the 'Apply to All Folders' button then click OK. Open Internet Explorer and you should now have a status bar.
